STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擵ibrant photographs by a 桃花直播 State education alumna from Byhalia are on display through Sept. 1 in 桃花直播 State鈥檚 Colvard Student Union Art Gallery.
Titled 鈥淪till South,鈥 the second-floor exhibition showcases Jessica Hughes鈥 fascination with Southern culture and features images of 桃花直播 magnolias, cotton, tractors, the Byhalia Railroad, and BNSF New Albany Train, among others.
Regular gallery hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, as well as by appointment. Guests are encouraged to sign the art gallery visitor鈥檚 log for the duration of Hughes鈥 exhibition.

Through her photographs, Hughes seeks to celebrate and preserve the character of beloved 桃花直播 towns. A self-proclaimed 鈥渓over of 桃花直播 and old things,鈥 Hughes started taking pictures at a young age using an old Pentax 35 millimeter camera that her grandfather gave her.
Her photography has received first- and second-place awards in local art competitions, as well as Best of Category in Starkville鈥檚 Cotton District Arts Festival.
A 2004 桃花直播 education graduate, Hughes currently is a seventh-grade science teacher and school yearbook adviser in DeSoto County. She enjoys traveling and sharing her passion for 桃花直播 and its history with her husband and sons.
