STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥 桃花直播 State鈥檚 Department of Philosophy and Religion is hosting the 桃花直播 Philosophical Association鈥檚 annual conference Friday-Saturday [Feb. 3-4] on the Starkville campus.
Peter Levine, associate dean for research and Lincoln Filene Professor of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Tufts University, is keynote speaker for this year鈥檚 event. Taking place at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Levine鈥檚 address, as well all other conference events, is free to the public and will be held in 185 McCain Hall.
In addition to 桃花直播 and Tufts University, visiting scholars represent Millsaps College, 聽聽Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Tulane University, University of Georgia, University of Memphis and the University of 桃花直播.
Administered by the University of 桃花直播, the 桃花直播 Philosophical Association鈥檚 members work to increase the understanding and appreciation of philosophy, encourage research and advance the standards and ideals of the teaching of philosophy, and cultivate an interest in the study of philosophy in 桃花直播 institutions of higher learning. Anthony Neal, 桃花直播 assistant professor of philosophy and program chair for this year鈥檚 conference, said the event will bring together scholars from around the country, focusing attention on civic studies through definition and investigations into civic responsibility, among other topics.
鈥淭his year鈥檚 keynote speaker, Dr. Peter Levine, is a prolific writer and scholar on civic studies,鈥 said Neal, who serves as the 桃花直播 Philosophical Association鈥檚 vice president.聽鈥淚 am confident that all students and faculty in attendance will appreciate his profound knowledge in the area.鈥
